Comparing qualifications

ENIC-NARIC website
ENIC and NARIC centres can help students compare qualifications with UK equivalents

OVERSEAS STUDENTS looking to compare qualification(s) from their home country with their UK equivalent(s) can consult National Acadmic Recognition Information Centres (NARIC) and European Network of Information Centres (ENIC).

(UK students wanting to compare their UK qualifications with that of another country should contact the National Information Centre for Academic Recognition and Mobility in that country for more information.)

What is NARIC?

The NARIC is a network of national centres created in 1984 and can help students work out the international equivalent qualification for entry on to UK degree courses.

The centres exist to help in regulating title recognition and facilitating the integration of national educational systems.

They aim to improve academic recognition of diplomas and periods of study in the Member States of the EU, the EEA countries and the associated countries in Central and Eastern Europe, Cyprus and Malta.

All have designated national centres which provide authoritative advice and information concerning the academic recognition of diplomas and periods of study undertaken in other states.

The main users of this service are higher education institutions, students and their advisers, parents, teachers and prospective employers.

In most cases, these centres are also responsible for work related to the implementation of the joint Council of Europe and UNESCO Convention on the recognition of qualifications concerning higher education in the European region.

UK NARIC

For foreign nationals looking to study in the UK, UK NARIC can provide you with a 'statement of comparability' that is designed to assist you when applying for courses in the UK.

The comparability statement will enable admitting institutions to make informed decisions about the suitability of your qualification(s) for the course for which you are applying.

For more information about UK NARIC please visit www.naric.org.uk or call +44 (0)871 330 7033.

We also maintain a list of NARIC and ENIC contact details.

What is ENIC?

NARIC centres are integrated with the ENIC network of the Council of Europe and UNESCO whose mission and objectives are quite similar. The two networks are running a common website with links to the 30 national websites: www.enic-naric.net.

We also maintain a list of NARIC and ENIC contact details.
