Calling all students - be a HERO writer!

Pen and piece of paper
We're looking for your contributions...
ARE YOU A wannabe journalist? Would you like to see your articles published on HERO? We’re looking for students and recent graduates to write short articles for our website.

You don’t have to be a journalism student or already writing for your university newspaper or website, but if you are planning a career in journalism, marketing, public relations or any other creative industry this could be just the addition your CV needs.

HERO.ac.uk is the UK’s official portal for higher education, and we have thousands of visitors on the site every day. Now we're looking to add your articles to our site.

If we choose to publish your work, your article will be published in the ‘Studying’ section of the HERO website for one month, and then it will be archived (but still publicly available) alongside our previous features. Even when archived, our features rate highly in most search engines - so anyone searching for your name on the internet – such as future employers – will probably find your article in the first page of results. Fame at last!

To get involved, all you need to do is write a short article about anything connected to higher education.

It could be...

  • a personal opinion piece - tell us your views such as your views on tuition fees or the NUS;
  • a review - tell us all about a specific event at your university or college, or review your student union;
  • a ‘day in the life’ story - tell us about someone on your course or a member of staff;
  • a rant on something - like the state of public transport in your town or how messy your housemates are!

In fact, you’re free to write about anything at all that’s related to being a student, you can also use the form below to run your ideas past us to see what we think if you're unsure. So, what are you waiting for? Get typing!
