IF YOU HAVE APPLIED through UCAS and are not holding any offers you
can now apply for another course rather than having to wait for Clearing to
begin.
UCAS
Extra allows you to apply for courses with vacancies between late February
and the end of June. You can only apply for one course at a time and applications
are made using your existing UCAS
Track account.
To be eligible for Extra you need to have already made five choices; received
decisions from all these choices; and either had no offers or have declined
all the offers you have received.
Once you become eligible for UCAS Extra, this facility will be added to your
Track screen automatically. Courses with vacancies will be denoted with an 'x'
in UCAS
course search. You can apply by entering the relevant details in Track.
UCAS will then send your application to the relevant university or college to
consider. UCAS recommend contacting institutions before submitting an Extra
application to ensure that they are able to consider you.
Applicants looking to apply through Extra are advised to think carefully about
their choice(s). If your initial choice(s) were unsuccessful why not consider
related or alternative subjects or courses that are not in such high-demand
to improve your chances?
If you are subsequently made an offer you need to decide whether to accept
it - the deadline for your decision will be shown on Track. If you accept, you
are committed and cannot apply anywhere else. If you decline (or an institution
turns you down) you can apply for a different course through Extra (given enough
time). If you are still without offers you can still find a place on a course
once UCAS
Clearing opens in mid-August.
