Undergraduate entry requirements
You can find out about out what individual course admissions requirements are likely to be either from the institutions themselves or via the UCAS Big Guide which contains a complete list. An offer of a place on a course will often be conditional on achieving certain grades in certain subjects. An institution may ask for a certain number of UCAS points for admission onto a course.
The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) site contains information about how your existing qualifications fit into the UCAS tariff.
The UCAS tariff is a points system used to report achievement for entry to higher education (HE) in a numerical format.
It establishes agreed equivalences between different types of qualifications and provides comparisons between applicants with different types and volumes of achievement.
The site also contains pre-HE UK Qualifications information.
This provides up-to-date information about a wide range of pre-HE qualifications and entry routes to HE and relates to students with UK and International qualifications.

Postgraduate entry requirements
Applications for postgraduate study are dealt with by individual institutions (and not by a centralised system, as undergraduate applications are). They will be able to advise as to entry requirements. As well as a undergraduate degree an institution may also stipulate a particular degree class as being necessary along with an aptitude or practical experience within the chosen area of postgraduate study and research.

Comparing international qualifications with their UK equivalents
Information for international students wanting to see how their qualifications compare to those in a country they wish to study or work in can be obtained from National Academic Recognition Centres (NARIC) and / or the European Network of Information Centres (ENIC). More information on NARIC and ENIC and comparing qualifications can be found here.
