HERO - all you need to know |
WELCOME TO HERO.
The Higher Education & Research Opportunities in the UK (HERO) site acts as a gateway to the UK's research system and relevant organisations within the sector.
Our member organisations include the UK's higher education funding bodies which puts us in a good position to explain all aspects of research in the UK.
As a current student or researcher, someone with a general interest in UK research, or someone whose work requires them to carry out research or interact with those who do we reckon you'll find the pages in this section, Research, most useful but you can access the other main sections (including in-depth profiles of all universities and colleges that offer higher education courses) from the links at the top of each page.
In this section's information pages, listed down the left-hand side of each page in this section, you'll find information on academic research and research training in the UK. There are also details of a wide range of high quality information and selected services of relevance to academic research and research training in the UK.
This area includes academic research problems, outputs and successes, organisation, funding, training and careers, experts, centres of excellence, facilities, methodologies and ethics. The focus is on academic research activities supported by and being carried out by higher education institutions and the research councils.
Each page contains a concise topic summary of the relevant information and links to the key websites that contain further information, or allow you to do something useful related to the topic.
Each month we also publish a number of features, written by people up and down the UK on various issues that will be of interest to researchers or those with an interest in research. You can access these through the Research homepage.
Whatever your interest in research in the UK, we hope these pages prove useful. |
