How do I get a newsreader? |
There are a wide range of different news readers available and new products and versions appear constantly. However, different news readers work on different operating systems, so you will need to choose one specifically compatible with your computer. A comprehensive list of these is available from the Google Directory.
If that seems far too daunting, below is a list of news readers HERO recommends:
Once you have chosen a news reader that suits your operating system, all that remains is for you to decide which content you wish to receive, simply by locating and subscribing to the relevant RSS feeds.
For instance, if you would like the latest press releases from HERO site, simply visit the News section and you will notice an orange RSS button on the left hand side. The button will look like this .
If you click on the button you can subscribe to the feed in a variety of ways, including dragging the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader, or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.
Some browsers automatically check for RSS feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an icon when they find one. This can make subscribing to RSS feeds much easier. Others, such as Internet Explorer 7.0, have readers built into the browser itself, whereas Firefox 7 lists a variety of readers available as add-ons.
